Wetlands, forests, and oceans are the three main global ecosystems with the highest productivity. At the Ramsar Meeting in 2002, annual wetland productivity was valued at US$1.5 billion, so it is obvious how important wetlands are. In addition to the certain ecological importance of the wetlands we selected, they also are sources of knowledge, serve to beautify our cities, and can stimulate our imaginations.
We hope that by creating and promoting concepts of wetland life and ecology, Taiwan can become a global model of wetland nurturing, protection, and education.
