The newly-developed Swallow Grotto Tunnel (Yanzihkou Tunnel) at the Central Cross-Island Highway is officially opened to traffic on June 1st, 2007 as the triangle cone placed at the entrance of the tunnel is removed from the Luoshao Branch of the Directorate General of Highways and Taroko National Park Headquarters.

Yangmingshan National Park is home to hundreds and thousands of butterflies that are attracted to the area by the abundance of nectar bearing plants especially during late spring and early summer. The Park’s 150 plus species of butterflies play important roles in preserving the area’s ecology and biodiversity through the pollination and then regeneration of plants.

Summer migrant “Blue-cheeked Bee-eaters (Merops philipennus)” arrive in Kinmen Island every year in April for the purpose of nidification and colonial breeding.
The Jazz Music Festival that is previous scheduled to be held on at Taichung Metropolitan Park at 15:00 p.m. of May 27th, and continue to 19:50 p.m. of the evening is postponed as of the coming of Mei-yu front with unstable climate and cloud rainfall. The Construction and Planning Agency of the Ministry of Interior will announce the other date for the music festival when the event is further finalized.
