Kenting National Park Headquarters

Kenting National Park Headquarters commissioned the Department of Civil Engineering, National Pingtung University of Science and Technology, to build a database of the beaches in Kenting National Park and analyze the basic features from 2010 to 2011. This database provides a significant reference for the coast protection and planning of tourism.
“Taiwan National Parks from Above” Premier Press Conference

The Construction and Planning Agency of the Ministry of the Interior (CPAMI) hosted the press conference for the premiere of the "Taiwan National Parks from Above" documentary film. Many heavyweight figures, including Mr. Lee Hong-Yuan, Minister of the Interior, Mr. Huang Guang-Nan, Minister without Portfolio, and other honored guests, private organizations, and NGOs, were present in the premiere.

Kaohsiung Metropolitan Park is hosting the Visiting the Intertidal Zone of Liuqiu Seminar on 2012 November 17th (Saturday) from 10am to 12pm. This seminar is part of the Caring for Taiwan Series. Associate Professor Luo Liu-Hsi from theDepartment of Geography, National Kaohsiung Normal University, will be the main speaker in this event. Entrance is free and everyone is welcome to join us.

In its 1440th meeting held on November 5, the Councilfor Economic Planning and Development (CEPD), in principle, gave its support tothe “2012-2015 National Park Mid-Term Plan” proposed by the Construction andPlanning Agency, Ministry of the Interior (CPAMI). This plan aims to activelyimprove the national park conservation system, implement conservation research,continuously develop environmental education, activate the development ofeco-tourism, and establish international partnerships.

Some significant changes have been made to thisyear’s Taroko Gorge Music Festival and, whereas in the past the festival hadmorning and afternoon sessions at the Taroko Terrace venue, this year therewill be three sessions over two days. As well as retaining the Eternal SpringShrine Liwu River venue, for the first time, the seashore under Qingshui Cliffswill be a concert venue, the intention being to give the audience an all-newvisual and audial experience.

The CPAMI organized a National Parks Photography Competition in 2012 to raise public awareness and appreciation of national parks, conveying the beauty of Taiwan's national parks to the general public. Due to the overwhelming response received and participation, the event organizers will select 3 best entries, 15 runners-up and 40 notable entries to include all enrollments and further increase the diversity of all contributed works.

The Taijian National Park Headquarters commissioned Professor Ying Wang of the National Taiwan Normal University to implement its "Taijian National Park Black-faced spoonbill population distribution and habitat investigation program," tagging the black-faced spoonbills with satellite transmitters and traditional radio transmitters to track their positions in wetlands on their global migration paths.
